Cantonese Speaking Home Support Worker
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cantonese Speaking Home Support Worker to provide personalized care and assistance to clients in their homes. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in senior care, disability support, or home health services, who are fluent in Cantonese and committed to enhancing the quality of life for those in need. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference through direct support, patient monitoring, and compassionate caregiving within a community setting.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
Administer medications following care plans and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. - Monitor vital signs and observe patient conditions for any changes or concerns
Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer clients with mobility challenges - Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping and sanitation tasks
- Support clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or memory care needs by implementing personalized care strategies
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a trusting relationship with clients and their families
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures
- Document patient progress accurately and report any significant observations or incidents
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, home health, hospice care, or long-term care environments preferred
- Group home experience or working with people with developmental disabilities highly valued
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder, and other cognitive or developmental conditions
- Familiarity with medication administration, vital signs measurement, and patient monitoring techniques
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines ensuring confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Hands-on caregiving experience involving assisting with ADLs, meal preparation, and resident care plans
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and work effectively in physically demanding situations
- Prior nursing home or senior care experience is advantageous but not mandatory for qualified candidates willing to learn
- This role requires excellent communication skills in Cantonese, patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals in their daily lives. Candidates must be reliable, attentive to detail, and committed to providing high-quality home support services.
